Beagle Training: Working On Your Dog's Instincts

Training a dog comes with having a pet. If you love dogs, then you should look into a puppy school or a dog club before bringing your new companion home. Beagle dogs are very good pets because they are just so adorable with those expressive eyes. Beagle training should begin the soonest possible you have your Beagle puppy. An adult Beagle dog will be very difficult to train because the dog has already established set ways.

Prior to pet training, you must know all you can about your dog from certified Beagle breeders to get some valuable dog training tips. Beagles are hunting dogs so you should incorporate into your Beagle training their natural need to hunt. This can be done by providing your dog with an object that he can be familiar with. Make sure to bring this object with you as you take a stroll. You can also leave it in a path that you will taking again. Then you can begin ordering your dog to go and find the object. Give him a reward when he fetches the object for you. You can add more items into the exercise so that his need to hunt will be fully met. This is how training a dog is accomplished, through step by step instructions and using positive reinforcement.

Like in most obedience dog training such as German Shepherd training, Doberman Training, Labrador training or Maltese training, you capitalize on the dog’s desire to please you. This is why it is important that you consistently praise your dogs for good behaviour or following your commands. Make sure that your dog knows when he does something bad. Basic dog training requires you be consistent. Praise what is good and reprimand what is not. Remember not to give treats unless your dog makes a satisfactory performance. Treats should not be in the form of food but could be a game of tag or a walk in the park.

Your beagle training should cover dog obedience training, leash training, kennel training, toilet training and house training. The primary rule in training your pet is to treat them as dogs, understand their particular breed and then love them as pets. They should be part of their family, but do not encourage them to act like humans. Doing so will only frustrate your dogs and cause havoc in your household. Beagle training is all about letting your dog have a quality life doing what he likes to do, that is to use all his instincts in hunting and pleasing you in the process.
